ALEXIS LEPE

Mr. Lepe Honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps after 45 months of service. He originally entered the Workforce System in August 2012, exiting at February of 2013 after he started working as an Armed Security Guard with Securitas in Desert Center.  In addition, he continued his schooling using the Post 9/11 GI Bill to obtain his degree in Security Management. Upon completion of an initial assessment, Mr. Lepe received resume assistance and numerous JDCs and job referrals by the Indio DVOP and LVER.  In February, the Indio LVER spoke with Judy Sterling of Securitas; Mr. Lepe began the application process. Securitas is staffing armed guards at the Desert Sunlight Solar Farm, a new 550 megawatt photovoltaic generating plant located at Desert Center, CA. After a background check, a thorough interview process, and onboarding training, Mr. Lepe started working on February 7th. He is working full-time and earning $13.50 per hour plus 20 hours of guaranteed over-time per week.  Mr. Lepe is very appreciative of the efforts made by the veteran staff involved.

GREGORY MOHR

Mr. Mohr Honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after 5 years of service. He originally entered the Workforce System in the beginning of February 2013, exiting at the end February of 2013 after he started working as a Cook 2 with Ernie’s Bar & Grill in La Quinta, CA.  In addition, he utilized his GI Bill to obtain his degrees in Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts. Upon completion of an initial assessment, Mr. Mohr received resume assistance and several JDCs and job referrals by the Indio DVOP and LVER.  Within two weeks, the Indio LVER spoke with Hilton Hotels HR; Mr. Mohr was invited to submit an application and meet for an interview appointment. Hilton Hotels was seeking a Cook 2 for Ernie’s Clubhouse Bar & Grill at the PGA West facility located at La Quinta, CA. After a thorough interview, and onboarding training, Mr. Mohr started working on February 11th. He is working full-time and earning $14.00 per hour and is eligible for full benefits after 90 days. Mr. Mohr is very appreciative of the efforts made by the veteran staff involved.

JOSE DELAO

Mr. Delao Honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after 12 years of service. He originally entered the Workforce System in the beginning of January 2013, exiting at the end February of 2013 after he started working as a Computer Hardware/Software Mentor with Experis in Blythe, CA.  Upon completion of an initial assessment, Mr. Delao received resume assistance and several JDCs and job referrals by the Indio DVOP and LVER and Blythe Workforce Services staff.  After receiving Mr. Delao’s resume, the Indio LVER spoke with William Blankenship of Experis. Mr. Delao was invited to submit an application and meet for an interview appointment. Experis was seeking a Computer Hardware/Software Mentor for the Ironwood Prison facility located at Blythe, CA. This facility has an estimated inmate population of 3800 and a staff of approximately 1300.  After a thorough interview, background check and onboarding training, Mr. Delao started working on February 11th. He is working full-time and earning $17.50 per hour. Mr. Delao is very appreciative of the efforts made by both the Blythe and Indio veteran staff involved.
